Screw conveyors

Screw conveyors are one of the oldest means of transporting materials, and it was probably Archimedes who discovered the screw as a way of transporting water.

Modern screw conveyors have been refined, but are based on the same principle as that used by the ancient Greeks. We now have a versatile, stable solution which can be adapted to meet specific requirements.

Different configurations

With a wide choice of parts and equipment, our screw conveyors can be constructed to handle many different types of material. Large volumes can be handled, thanks to capacities of up to 1,000 m3 per hour. Screw conveyors are normally used for granulated and powdered materials, but can also be used for small items up to a certain size. Screw conveyors have a powerful but relatively simple construction, making them reliable and hardwearing. This gives low maintenance costs and low energy consumption. Depending on the type of trough, screw diameters of between 100 and 500 mm are normally available, but other diameters can also be supplied.

The conveyors are used either as individual products or as part of a complete system for various types of transportation, discharge, dosing and mixing, and are available in many different designs. For example, they can be adapted to high temperatures or for materials which require extremely hardwearing components. The conveyors are of course usually enclosed and dust-tight in order to prevent dusting and spillage. By reducing the incline of the screw, delicate materials can be transported carefully. Double spirals can be installed to facilitate dosing during discharge. The spiral can also be supplied with a left-hand thread, with a counter-spiral at the outlet, and with various strong casing thicknesses and hub pipes.
